Artists would cut profiles from black paper or paint them in shadow form to create affordable yet elegant depictions of loved ones. Named after Étienne de Silhouette, a French finance minister, the art form became a symbol of refined simplicity.

How many people can I include in my portrait?
You can include up to 4 individuals in your portrait. We charge an additional $10 per person, since our in-house artists digitally illustrate each one.
Can animals be depicted in silhouette portraits?
Absolutely! Animals can be depicted in your portrait with or without humans. Silhouette portraits make great gifts for all types of animal lovers!
Who creates the artwork?
Each piece is designed by our in-house artists using digital illustration. Every portrait is reviewed to ensure that it meets our quality standards before printing. We do not use AI-generated illustrations.
What printing options do you offer?
We offer museum-quality giclée prints on premium archival matte paper in 3 sizes (8x10, 12x16, 16x20). You can choose to frame your print in a variety of different materials and colors, including both metal and wood frames.
How long does it take to receive my order?
Items usually ship within 5 business days. You can expect to receive items within 2 weeks of placing an order. You will receive tracking information via email once your order has shipped.
What is your return policy?
Because our products are made-to-order, we are unable to offer returns. If there’s an issue with your order, including damage or defects, please contact us within 14 days of delivery by emailing support@timesakes.com.
What if I’m not happy with my portrait?
We want you to love your artwork. While we don't offer returns, if you’re not satisfied with your portrait we’ll work with you on adjustments. Please contact us within 14 days of delivery, and we’ll make it right.
